Information
Over-Wintering Chilli Plants Cap Baccatum and Cap Pubescens are the best for over-wintering. We give them a 'short back and sides'. The plant is reduced to its main stem and the side shoots are cut back to about 2". They are then put onto a hot mat (see sundries) set at 12-15C. They should be kept moist but not over watered and fed with a ¼ strength high potash solution until the plants begin to sprout. Then they get a high nitrogen feed and are re-potted with some blood, fish and bone added to the compost. Illustrations of how to prune as well as full details on over-wintering are in Matt's book Chilli, Chili, Chile: Peppers Sweet and Hot - see Sundries or Books
